Garden City High School in KS recognized as Blue Ribbon School

Garden City High School in Garden City, KS, one of the first five member districts of the Kansas Learning Network, has been chosen by the US Department of Education as one of 314 Blue Ribbon Schools for 2012.  The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of achievement. In addition, James Mireles, Principal of Garden City High School, was honored with the Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding Leadership.  Since assuming the position of principal, Mireles and his team have successfully raised student achievement to 95% proficient in reading/language arts and 92.2% proficient in mathematics.  More information about this year’s Bell award recipients can be found here.
